Cascais known today for its seaside living and holiday destination to the Portuguese and foreigners alike, still holds the charm from its humble history. Once a small fishing village that drew the attention of Portuguese royalty in the late 1800s and early 1900s as the perfect place to get away with its close proximity to Lisbon and the lush Sintra mountains as a backdrop.
Cascais is now a vibrant village situated approximately 25km from the centre of Lisbon and welcomes visitors all year round to its scenic seaside. You will find plenty to do in Cascais, especially during the summer months when the weather is perfect for recreation and sports. Golf, cycling, sun bathing, surfing, kite surfing, windsurfing, sailing are just some of the sports on offer. There are also plenty of options when it comes to accommodation and gastronomy, depending on your budget and taste. Cascais really comes alive in summer with restaurants, clubs, bars, pubs... open till early hours, there's always something to do.

This blog was originally created as many members had doubts to whether the course would be playable for the Open on April 1st. My original plan was to give weekly updates regarding the condition of the course. As the Open has now been postponed until June, my aim is to take the blog in a new direction. Leaving politics aside I will continue to update you on course conditions as I find them so that you know what to expect when you arrive to play the course.
